RAIN RAIN GO AWAY COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY

In 1974, Brisbane flooded pretty horrendously - a pub situated a good 15m above the tide mark was serving people that rafted or canoed up to their third story balcony - and back then the peak was at 5.45m. It's predicted to be greater than that this time - though not so bad as the 8m+ floods of the 1800s - and everywhere is cut off from everywhere else right now. I'm not in much danger at the moment (it depends on how the drainage system around here holds), but I've been trawling twitter all day and have found (or been sent by friends) some fantastic pictures I thought I'd share.

(railings are now completely underwater)

A good 20,000+ are without power and several suburbs have been evacuated so far. Our worst day will be on Thursday, and I believe we have some king tides coming in tomorrow. FUN TIMES AHEAD!

Sidenote: My Dad has stopped watching the news updates because he gets furiously angry at incorrect sandbagging and misinformation being spread about military resources.

Sidenote 2: TWO channels are now streaming sport instead of anything useful. OH, QLD.
